One of the earliest houses built in Armadale and extensively added to and remodelled over time (including a long period as the convent of the Blessed Sacrament), this house required extensive works to make it into a coherent, logical family home.
Given the size of the house, energy efficiency was a key consideration as well as incorporating extensive PV power generation, evacuated tube pool and domestic hot water heating and large capacity water storage.
Our job consisted of connecting the three levels physically and visually, making strong connections between the interior and the garden, managing privacy and seclusion as well as providing extensive servicing for frequent large scale entertaining, and incorporating a tennis court and swimming pool into a garden setting without being dominated by them.
We developed an approach to the interior which deployed intense pattern and colour to make spaces capable of being both playful and elegant and to ensure the sense of a family home rather than a lifestyle trophy.
